Maximizing AAdvantage Miles for a Business Class Trip to Asia

Started by BOGJet36 1 hours ago 2 replies 14 views
Hey everyone! I'm planning a trip to Asia next year and I've been accumulating AAdvantage miles with American Airlines. I've heard great things about Cathay Pacific's business class and I'm considering using my miles for a round trip from LAX to HKG.

I've got about 120,000 miles, and I'm curious if anyone has tips on finding award availability for these routes? Also, are there any sweet spots or alternative routes I should consider to make the most of my miles?

On a related note, does anyone have experience with the Admirals Club in LAX or any partner lounges in Hong Kong? Would love some feedback on what to expect.

Any advice on booking strategies or experiences with Cathay's business class would be much appreciated. Thanks in advance for your help!
Cathay Pacific's business class is a great choice, and using AAdvantage miles for the LAX to HKG route can be a good value if you find availability. One tip is to book well in advance, as award seats can be snapped up quickly. Also, consider searching for flights individually (one-way) to increase your chances of finding availability.

For sweet spots, look into routes operated by Japan Airlines or Qatar Airways, as they offer excellent business class products and can sometimes have better availability. As for lounges, the Admirals Club at LAX is decent, but the Cathay Pacific lounges in Hong Kong, like The Pier, are top-notch and worth experiencing if you have access.

Have you checked out the British Airways Executive Club site for availability? It often shows Cathay flights better than AA's site.
