Tips for Spotting at Denver (DEN) - Best Lens for Distance?

Hey guys, I'm planning a spotting trip to Denver International (DEN) soon and could use some advice. I know the airport is pretty spread out, so I guess shooting from a distance is the norm? I've got a Canon 7D, and I'm torn between bringing my trusty 100-400mm lens or borrowing a friend's 150-600mm.

Has anyone shot there and can tell me which focal length works better? Also, any tips on where to set up? Heard there are some good spots near the final approach. I don't want to end up too far from the action. Any advice on this or general tips for DEN would be awesome. Thanks!

I'd go with the 150-600mm if you can borrow it. DEN is definitely spread out, and that extra reach can make a big difference, especially for those approach shots. There's a spot called "Final Approach" near the 56th Ave and Pea Blvd intersection. It's a parking area with a decent view of arrivals on the 17s and 35s. Bear in mind, the weather can be unpredictable, so pack accordingly. Have fun spotting!

I was there last summer, and the 100-400mm felt a bit short, especially for those wide-open runway shots. There's a spot near the Pea Blvd cell phone lot that's decent for final approach shots. Just watch out for heat haze on hot days, it can mess with your shots. Also, sunscreen is a must-learned that the hard way!
