F-22 Stealth Coating: Still Leading the Pack?

Started by SarahDeparture92 1 months ago 1 replies 75 views
So, I was reading about the F-22 Raptor's stealth coating and how it's still a big deal. Even though the design dates back to the 90s, it seems like no one's really caught up yet. Apparently, the US managed to make some upgrades over the years, but the core tech is kinda old school.

What blows my mind is that these coatings are still better than what you see on the latest jets from places like China and Russia. I guess it shows how far ahead the US was when they first developed this stuff. I mean, think about it - tech from the 90s still outclassing today's advancements in some areas.

Makes me wonder if it's just about the materials or if there's something else going on. Maybe it's like a secret recipe thing, where even if others get the ingredients, they can't cook it the same way?

What do you guys think? Do you reckon other countries will ever catch up, or is the US going to keep this edge for a while? And with the F-22 out of production now, is it time to start worrying about how long this tech will stay on top?
