They've had to redesign it a bunch of times, and it's grounded the 777X test fleet more than once.
From what I understand, the GE9X combines stuff from the GE90 and the GEnx, with a ton of fancy new materials. But clearly, something's not clicking yet. I think it's kind of a big deal since the whole success of the 777X is riding on this engine working out.
