Best Lenses for Aviation Photography: 100-400mm vs 150-600mm

Hey everyone! I've been dabbling in aviation photography for a while, mostly with my Canon EOS R6 paired with a 70-200mm lens. I'm considering upgrading my lens for better reach, especially for spotting at airports like LAX or JFK, where the planes are often farther away.

I'm torn between the Canon RF 100-400mm f/5.6-8 and the Sigma 150-600mm f/5-6.3 DG OS HSM. I love the idea of the extra reach on the 150-600mm, but I'm concerned about the weight and how it might affect handheld shots. On the other hand, the 100-400mm seems more manageable and versatile.

For those who have experience with these lenses, what are your thoughts? How do they perform in terms of sharpness and autofocus speed? Is the extra reach of the 150-600mm worth the additional weight? Also, any tips for using these lenses in varying lighting conditions would be greatly appreciated. Looking forward to hearing your experiences and advice!
