They've paused most of their flights for the summer and are apparently behind on staff salaries by two months. That's rough, especially for a small airline with only two planes (an Airbus A319 and A321). They've asked employees to keep flying charters while they wait for funding. Doesn't sound easy when you're already stretched thin.
They're also looking at a big opportunity in Saudi Arabia, but that's still a few years away with lots of hurdles to clear. Winning a tender is one thing, but setting up operations is another beast entirely.
I get that premium leisure to the Maldives is seasonal, but stopping scheduled flights seems risky. It puts them in a tough spot-needing charters to keep cash flowing and planes moving.
