Model Airplane Madness - Hogan vs Herpa for 1:200 Scales?

Hey everyone, I've been diving into the world of 1:200 scale model aircraft, and I'm curious about the quality differences between Hogan and Herpa models. I recently picked up a Hogan 747 and it looks great, but I've heard Herpa has some really detailed stuff too.

For those who've got both, is there a noticeable difference in detail, paint quality, or durability? I'm thinking about expanding my collection and don't want to end up with a brand that doesn't hold up.

Also, do any of you have tips on good places to snag these models at a reasonable price? I've been browsing eBay and a couple of hobby shops, but I'm open to suggestions.

I've got a few from both Hogan and Herpa. Hogan's great for their simplicity and price, but if you're a stickler for detail, Herpa's the way to go. Their paint jobs are usually more precise, and they feel a bit sturdier. As for where to buy, check out some model-specific online stores like Diecast Airplane or even Amazon. Sometimes you can catch good deals there. eBay's a hit or miss-be ready to dig for the gems.
