Spotting at Amsterdam Schiphol (AMS) - Best Lens for Cloudy Days?

Started by NathanLanding8 13 hours ago 2 replies 10 views
Hey folks, I've been doing some spotting at Amsterdam Schiphol (AMS) lately, and I've run into a bit of a challenge. Lots of cloudy days here, which makes it tricky to get those crisp, vibrant shots. I'm currently using a Canon 100-400mm lens, but I'm wondering if there's a better option out there for these overcast conditions?

I've heard some people swear by prime lenses for this kind of weather, but I've never tried one myself. Any thoughts on whether it's worth the investment, or should I just stick with what I have and play around with settings?

Also, if anyone has tips on settings that help bring out the colors a bit more when the sun's hiding, I'd love to hear them. Would appreciate any advice or experiences you can share!
Cloudy days can be tough! I think your 100-400mm is pretty solid, but primes could be interesting if you want to try something new. They tend to be faster, which can help in low light, but they're not as versatile as zooms. Maybe try borrowing one to see if you like it before investing. For settings, I'd bump up the ISO a bit and maybe shoot in RAW to tweak colors later. I've found that helps bring out some vibrancy even on gloomy days.
