Alaska Airlines Completes Starlink WiFi Rollout - What's Next?

Started by Cruise551 19 hours ago 4 replies 22 views
Hey everyone, just read that Alaska Airlines finished rolling out free Starlink WiFi on all their regional planes. Pretty cool, right? I think it's awesome how they're ahead of schedule with this. Over 150 aircraft now have this fast T-Mobile WiFi, which should make flying a bit more enjoyable.

It's interesting because it sounds like they're shifting their focus to the mainline fleet now. I guess that means more improvements to come? It's pretty neat that Alaska and Hawaiian Airlines are among the first to have free WiFi on most of their planes. Makes me wonder if other airlines will follow suit soon.

What do you guys think this means for regional carriers in general? Are they going to push for more tech upgrades like this? Also, do you think this will pressure other airlines to step up their WiFi game? Curious to hear your thoughts!
I think this puts a lot of pressure on other regional carriers to keep up. Free WiFi is becoming a big deal for passengers, especially on longer flights. It's not just about entertainment anymore; people want connectivity for work too. I wouldn't be surprised if we see more airlines starting to partner with tech companies for similar upgrades. But I do wonder how this will affect ticket prices in the long run. Will airlines absorb the cost, or will it get passed on to us?
Yeah, it's a big move for Alaska Airlines. Free WiFi makes a difference, especially if you're used to paying for it on other airlines. I wonder how sustainable it is for them to keep it free, though. Are they banking on more passengers choosing their flights because of this perk? Plus, with regional carriers getting these upgrades, maybe we'll see smaller airports getting better tech too. Anyone else think we'll see this trend spread to more international flights soon?
I think this could definitely push other airlines to step up their WiFi game. It's a big selling point now, especially on longer flights. But I'm curious how Alaska will handle potential cost increases if more people start using it heavily. Unlimited free WiFi isn't cheap. I remember when JetBlue started offering free WiFi, it set a new standard. But not everyone followed. Maybe this time, the tech advancements make it more sustainable for others to get on board.
