Delta Says Goodbye to Williston - Tough Times for Regional Flights

Started by AVGuy817 3 weeks ago 1 replies 52 views
So, Delta's pulling the plug on their Williston-Minneapolis route by September 2026. Bummer for folks in western North Dakota. This route's been around since the oil boom days, but I guess numbers just didn't add up anymore.

Seems like regional routes are a tough gig. You need steady demand, and it sounds like Williston couldn't keep up. They're using those CRJ-550s, which are comfy but don't bring in as much cash as bigger planes.

With Delta out, United's still flying to Denver, which is cool, but it's not the same as having MSP as a hub. I mean, MSP's connections are massive - lose that, and it changes the game for sure.

What do you guys think about the future of regional flights like these? Do you think local support can really keep them afloat, or is it just a matter of time before more routes get axed?
