Hey everyone, so I just read that Iberia is planning to cut 844 jobs through a voluntary redundancy plan. It's a pretty big move, and it sounds like they're trying to manage costs while minimizing the impact by making it voluntary. I guess that's better than straight-up layoffs, but still, 844 is a lot of people.
I think this is part of the ongoing shake-up in the airline industry post-pandemic. Airlines are still trying to find their footing and balance the books after all the chaos over the last few years. Iberia isn't alone in this, as we've seen other airlines make similar decisions recently.
Does anyone have more info on how Iberia's been doing financially? Are they struggling more than other European carriers? And what do you guys think about voluntary redundancy plans in general? Do they actually help in the long run, or just delay the inevitable?
