Hey everyone! I'm trying to up my game in aviation photography, especially when it comes to capturing those dynamic takeoff shots. I've been using a Canon EOS R5 with a 70-200mm lens, but I feel like I'm missing out on some of the action when spotting at larger airports like LAX or JFK. I'm considering upgrading to either a 100-400mm or a 150-600mm lens.
For those who've used these lenses, what are your thoughts? How do they perform in terms of image quality, focus speed, and versatility? Is the extra reach of the 150-600mm worth the trade-offs in size and weight?
Also, any tips on settings for maximizing sharpness and minimizing heat haze during those midday shots would be greatly appreciated! Looking forward to hearing your experiences and recommendations. Thanks!
