Azerbaijan Airlines Adds Baku-Brussels Route in 2027!

So, AZAL is launching a new route from Baku to Brussels in May 2027. Pretty interesting move, right? They're planning 4 flights a week, which seems like a smart way to start without overcommitting. Brussels is a big deal politically and business-wise, so this could be a good strategic step for Azerbaijan Airlines.

I'm curious about the aircraft they'll use. The route is about 3,660 km, so it could be an A320neo or maybe even a 787 if they expect big demand. The airline's been modernizing its fleet, so it'll be interesting to see what they decide.

Also, Brussels being a major EU and NATO hub makes it significant for diplomatic and business travelers. Plus, the rail connections from Brussels Airport are awesome for reaching other European cities.

What do you guys think? Will this route help AZAL strengthen its ties with Europe? And any thoughts on whether they'll use a narrowbody or widebody for these flights?
I wonder if they'll stick with the A320neo for this route. It makes sense for the distance, and it's efficient for a new market. But if they think there's enough demand, maybe a 787 would be smart for the extra capacity and comfort. Brussels is a pretty strategic pick, especially with all the EU and NATO traffic. I guess they might adjust aircraft based on how ticket sales go in the first few months. Anyone know if AZAL has been buying more widebodies recently?
I think starting with an A320neo makes the most sense. It's efficient for the distance and fits the initial demand without too much risk. If they see high demand later, they could always switch to a 787. Brussels being a hub for EU and NATO means they might get a steady flow of business and diplomatic travelers. But it'll take some time to see how it all plays out. Wonder if they'll eventually increase frequency if it proves popular.
I'm leaning towards them starting with the A320neo. It's efficient for the route length and can handle the initial passenger numbers without overestimating demand. If they see the route's getting popular, they could consider the 787 later on. Brussels is a big hub, though, so demand might pick up quicker than expected. Do you guys think they'd price it competitively to attract more diplomatic and business travelers from the get-go?
I'd bet they'll start with the A320neo too. It's the perfect size for testing out the market. I'm curious about the demand though. Brussels being such a political hub could mean more business travelers. If that's the case, they might eventually shift to a widebody if things take off. Anyone know how AZAL's been doing on their other European routes lately? It might give us a clue on their strategy here.
