Air Algrie's First B737-8 - What's Up with the Delivery?

So, Air Algrie just got their first B737-8, which is pretty cool if you ask me. This one's part of a batch of ten they're leasing. The interesting bit is that this plane, 7T-VLQ, was originally meant for GOL Linhas Areas in Brazil. It even made it to Belo Horizonte earlier this year, but GOL didn't end up taking it. Instead, it got ferried to Budapest before heading to Algiers.

Kind of a detour, right? Makes you wonder about the logistics behind these deliveries. Anyway, this B737-8 is coming in from BOC Aviation, which is a big player in leasing. At the same time, Air Algrie's Domestic Airlines just received an ATR72-600. Busy times for them!

Heard that GOL didn't take it because they had some issues with their fleet strategy. Maybe they decided to go with different aircraft or just didn't need it at the moment. Leasing companies like BOC Aviation probably have contingency plans for these situations, hence the detour. As for Air Algrie, I bet they're looking to both update their fleet and maybe expand routes. Adding a new aircraft type could mean new possibilities for their network.
