American Airlines Offering Unpaid Leaves to Flight Attendants

Started by GeorgePics14 1 months ago 1 replies 37 views
So, American Airlines is offering unpaid leave to about 1,205 flight attendants in September. It seems like they're adjusting their schedule earlier than usual for fall. It's about 4% of their flight attendant workforce, which is pretty significant if you think about it.

I guess it makes sense since travel demand usually dips after the summer rush, but I wonder how this will affect their operations. Are they cutting a lot of flights? And for the flight attendants, I wonder if this is a good opportunity to take a break or if it's more of a financial burden.

Seems like a tough spot for both the airline and the crew. Anyone know if other airlines are doing something similar? And if you're a flight attendant, would you take the unpaid leave if offered? Curious how folks are handling this news.
