Flying Through Skardu - Anyone Been There?

Started by Route9107 3 weeks ago 1 replies 66 views
Just read a post about someone flying into Skardu, Paro, and Lhasa. Sounds like an epic trip! Skardu caught my attention 'cause it's in the Himalayas and the takeoff sounds wild. I mean, weaving through valleys and clearing mountain ridges? That's gotta be something you don't experience every day.

Paro's always sounded exotic to me too. I've heard it's one of those airports where only a handful of pilots are certified to land. And Lhasa being the highest of the three...flying there must be such a unique experience.

I haven't been to any of these places myself, but it's on the bucket list for sure. Anyone here flown into Skardu or any of these airports? How'd you find it? I'm curious if it's as dramatic in real life as it sounds. And how's the approach at these places compared to each other? Would love to hear your stories!
