Jetblast Drama at Skiathos - Tourists Blown Over!

Started by PHXNEOPro 2 weeks ago 2 replies 57 views
Wow, so I just read about two tourists getting injured at Skiathos Airport because of jetblast. This place is like the European version of St. Maarten, where you can get super close to the planes. But man, it can be dangerous! Apparently, they were standing too close when a plane was taking off and got knocked over by the blast.

I mean, I get the thrill of being that close to the action - I'd love to experience it myself someday. But safety has to be a priority, right? I've seen videos where people are holding onto fences at places like this, and it looks intense.

Does anyone know if they're going to put new safety measures in place there after this? Or is it more about educating the visitors? I feel like airports like Skiathos or St. Maarten have a unique vibe that attracts thrill-seekers, but at what point should they step up security to prevent stuff like this? Curious to hear what you guys think. Would you still go for the experience despite the risks?
Yeah, Skiathos really is like the St. Maarten of Europe. The thrill's real, but people gotta be careful. I remember watching a video where someone got literally lifted off their feet by the jetblast there. Airports could probably do more with signs or barriers, but I think it mostly comes down to people needing to use common sense. If you're gonna stand that close, you've gotta be ready for the consequences. I'd still go, but I'd keep a good distance. Anyone know if they've ever closed the beach area during takeoffs?
