Anyone have tips for redeeming Amex points on ANA first class?

Started by JonathanMCO38 1 weeks ago 3 replies 26 views
So I've got a decent stash of Amex Membership Rewards points and I'm thinking about splurging on an ANA first class ticket to Japan. Heard it's an amazing experience, and I think transferring points to ANA Mileage Club might be the way to go?

But honestly, I'm a bit lost on how to find availability. I've read that seats are tough to snag, especially if you're looking to travel during peak times (like cherry blossom season). Any tricks for finding those elusive seats? Also, is the transfer process pretty straightforward, or are there any pitfalls I should watch out for?

I don't mind being flexible with dates, but a little worried about transferring points and then not finding what I want. Would love to hear if anyone's done this before and can share some tips or success stories!
Finding ANA first class seats can be a bit of a challenge, but it's definitely possible with some flexibility. Check availability through the United Airlines or Aeroplan websites since they show Star Alliance partners. As for transferring points, it's usually quick-just make sure you're logged into your ANA Mileage Club account before transferring. Keep an eye on ANA's website for seat releases closer to your travel dates. Sometimes they release more seats a few weeks out. Good luck!
I tried this last year, and yeah, finding seats can be tricky. Best bet is to look for flights way in advance or be super flexible with dates. Use the ANA website and maybe even call their customer service if you're having trouble. For the transfer, just make sure your Amex and ANA accounts are linked correctly. Transfers are usually instant, but double-check before moving a big chunk of points. Good luck!
