Best Way to Use Alaska Airline Miles for Hawaii Trips?

Started by NZCRJ 4 hours ago 3 replies 16 views
I've got a decent stash of Alaska Airlines miles and I'm itching for a trip to Hawaii. I've never used Alaska miles for this route before, so I'm curious if anyone here has experience or tips? I've heard they have some good partner redemptions.

I mostly fly out of the West Coast, so any advice on maximizing mileage value would be awesome. Should I be looking at flying direct with Alaska, or is it better to use them on a partner like American or Hawaiian? Also, are there any sweet spot redemptions or specific airports in Hawaii where miles seem to go further?

I'd love to hear any strategies or experiences you guys might have. It'd be great to stretch these miles as much as possible while enjoying some island time!
I'd definitely look into using your Alaska miles for direct flights. Alaska Airlines has some solid options from the West Coast to Hawaii. If you want to explore partner airlines, Hawaiian Airlines is a good bet too, especially since they fly to multiple Hawaiian airports. They sometimes have better award availability. As for sweet spots, flying into Maui (OGG) or Kauai (LIH) can sometimes offer better value. Keep an eye on award charts and be flexible with your travel dates for the best deals. Happy planning!
I'd go for Alaska's direct flights if you're flying out of the West Coast. They've got a good amount of routes to Hawaii. But yeah, checking out partner airlines can be smart too. Hawaiian Airlines is a solid option, sometimes you can find sweet deals with them. For airports, Honolulu usually has more availability, but don't sleep on the other islands. Sometimes you snag better deals flying into Maui or the Big Island. Keep an eye on those redemption calendars!
