So, I read somewhere that both the Boeing 737 MAX and Airbus A320neo use the same engine. Kinda blew my mind at first. Turns out it's the CFM International LEAP engine that's powering both of these planes. I always thought each manufacturer would have their own unique engine setup, but I guess sharing engines is more common than I realized.
It makes sense though. I mean, developing a new engine must cost a ton, so sharing probably helps keep costs down. Plus, the LEAP engine is supposed to be super efficient and quieter, which is obviously a big plus for airlines.
But honestly, doesn't it make these planes kinda similar? I always thought the differences in engines were what gave each aircraft its 'personality'. Maybe that's just me.
Also, do you think this trend of using the same engines will continue? Are we gonna see more of this with future models? Just wondering if anyone else has thoughts on this or knows more about the engine-sharing thing. It's pretty cool that two competing companies can end up using the same tech like this. Let me know what you think!
