Why Aren't KC-46 Tankers in the Pacific Yet?

So, I just read something interesting about the KC-46 Pegasus tankers. The US Air Force has 113 of these bad boys, but almost none are stationed in the Pacific. It's kinda surprising, considering the Pacific's strategic importance. Turns out, the KC-46 is having a bunch of technical issues and delays thanks to Boeing's engineering hiccups. That's why they're sticking with the old KC-135s for now.

It's been seven years since the KC-46 started working toward full operation, but it still hasn't made it to overseas bases like many of us expected. Honestly, it's a bit disappointing. You'd think by now they'd have it all sorted out. I mean, the KC-135 is from the Eisenhower era - talk about old school!

I'm curious if any of you think this will affect the US's ability to project power in the Pacific. And do you think they should've stuck with a different model or even a different manufacturer for these tankers? It seems like a big deal if they can't rely on the KC-46 when they need it most.
