So, I just read that Porter Airlines is planning to build Montreal's second airport and they're trying not to repeat the whole Mirabel disaster from back in the day. Remember how Mirabel was supposed to be the big thing in Canadian aviation in the 70s? But nobody wanted to trek all the way out there, so it kind of flopped as a major hub.
This time around, it sounds like Porter is aiming for something more practical and less grandiose, focusing on making it actually convenient for travelers. I think that's pretty smart. If they can avoid the split operations problem and keep it accessible, they might be onto something.
I'm curious how they're planning to handle the logistics, though. Are they going to focus on certain airlines or routes to make it more appealing? And what about the existing airport? Will this new one complement it or just create more competition?
Anybody else have thoughts on whether this could actually work out for them? Or are we looking at another potential misstep in Montreal's aviation history? Let me know what you think!
