Spotting at Munich Airport (MUC) - Best Camera Settings for Morning Light?

Started by Tower2388 • 2 weeks ago • 2 replies • 39 views
Hey folks, planning a spotting trip to Munich Airport (MUC) soon, and I'm really excited about catching the morning arrivals. I've heard the light can be pretty fantastic around that time, but I want to make sure I'm getting the best results.

I'm using a Canon EOS R5 and usually stick to my 100-400mm lens for spotting. Any tips on what settings might work best for that morning glow? I usually shoot in aperture priority but open to trying manual if it'll make a difference. Also, any advice on ISO settings when the light's starting to change as the sun rises?

Would love to hear what's worked for you guys to capture those crisp, clear shots. Cheers!
I'd stick with aperture priority but maybe start around f/8 for a good depth of field. The R5 handles ISO really well, so don't be afraid to bump it up to 400 or 800 as the light changes. Morning light can be tricky when it shifts quickly, so you might have to adjust on the fly. If the light's really golden, try a slightly warmer white balance to capture that glow. How's your experience been with manual focus in those conditions? Sometimes autofocus can struggle a bit with backlighting.
