Delta Delays Riyadh Route Again - What's Up with Saudi Flights?

Started by YVRE190Fan • 2 weeks ago • 5 replies • 29 views
So, Delta's pushed back their Atlanta to Riyadh flights again, now aiming for March 2027 instead of October 2026. Apparently, it's all about safety concerns after some attacks on Riyadh's airport. Makes sense-safety first, right? But I wonder if they'll really stick to this new date. It's still months away, and who knows what the situation will be like by then.

Delta's been saying they're committed to Saudi Arabia, which is interesting considering they're the only US airline planning nonstop flights there. They've got a partnership with Riyadh Air, so maybe that's part of their long-term strategy. But I'm curious if there's enough demand for this route, especially with those security issues and all.

What do you guys think? Is there enough interest for a direct ATL-RUH flight? And do you think Delta's really gonna launch in March, or is this just another tentative date? Let me know your thoughts!
I get why Delta's being cautious. Safety's a big deal. But March 2027 feels like a placeholder. Things change fast, especially with geopolitics and security stuff. As for demand, it's a mixed bag. Business travelers might be interested, but leisure travelers might hesitate given the security concerns. The partnership with Riyadh Air could help gauge interest though. I guess we'll have to wait and see if they actually launch then or push it back again. Anyone know how other airlines are handling routes to Saudi Arabia right now?
I think Delta's playing it safe with the new date, but who knows if it'll actually happen? The security situation is unpredictable, and airlines hate uncertainty. As for demand, it's a tough call. Business ties are growing between the US and Saudi, so there might be interest, but it depends on how things shake out politically. Plus, with a partner like Riyadh Air, maybe they're banking on connecting passengers from other regions too.
I'd be surprised if Delta sticks with March 2027. Feels more like a placeholder while they wait and see how things unfold. The security concerns are real, and no airline wants to risk that. As for demand, that's tough to gauge. Business ties between the US and Saudi Arabia could drive traffic, but tourism might be less appealing given the circumstances. I wonder if Delta's partnership with Riyadh Air could help them pivot if things don't improve.
Honestly, I wouldn't bet on March 2027 either. Security issues aside, I'm curious if Delta's banking on future business travel demand with their Riyadh Air partnership. But with all the geopolitical stuff going on, it feels like they're hedging their bets. Anyone remember when Air France and Lufthansa pulled out of Tehran a few years back due to similar concerns? Makes you wonder if Delta's got a plan B if things don't improve by then.
