LOT Polish Airlines Starting Warsaw to San Francisco Service

I just saw on FlyMag.com that LOT Polish Airlines will begin WAW to SFO service in May of 2026.

The 5,867-mile sector will run with two distinct time banks:

Thursdays & Sundays
LO35 WAW 11:15 → SFO 13:50
LO36 SFO 15:50 → WAW 12:05 (+1)

Wednesdays & Saturdays
LO35 WAW 17:40 → SFO 20:15
LO36 SFO 22:15 → WAW 06:30 (+1)

Block times: ~11:35 westbound / ~11:15 eastbound.

Is anyone else surprised by this city choice?

I did not see that coming. What an interesting route addition for LOT.
