Worth the Switch? Comparing Amex Platinum and Chase Sapphire Reserve for Lounge Access

Started by BenjaminPics17 • 2 days ago • 2 replies • 33 views
I've been juggling between the Amex Platinum and Chase Sapphire Reserve, mainly for the lounge access perks. I know Amex gets you into Centurion Lounges and has some Priority Pass lounges too. But I've heard mixed things about the Centurion Lounges being packed. On the other hand, the Chase Sapphire Reserve gives you Priority Pass, which is cool, but not sure if it's enough.

I mostly fly out of JFK and LAX, if that helps. Anyone have experience with both cards? Do the lounges make a big difference, or should I be looking at other benefits instead? I'm also curious about how easy it is to actually find a seat in these lounges. Any tips or thoughts would be awesome!
I've had both cards, and honestly, it depends on how often you're at those specific airports. JFK's Centurion Lounge isn't huge, so it does get crowded, especially during peak times. LAX is a bit better, but still not ideal if you want guaranteed seating. With the Chase Sapphire Reserve, Priority Pass covers more lounges, but quality can vary. If lounge access is the main thing for you, maybe look into the timing of your flights and the typical crowd levels at those lounges. You might also want to think about other benefits like points earning potential or travel credits.
