Canada's New F-35s: Big Step or Just the Start?

So, Canada just got its first couple of F-35s down in Arizona. Pretty big deal, right? These jets are the cutting edge of modern fighter tech, but it sounds like they're just dipping their toes in the water. They're still figuring out the whole training setup and building the right infrastructure back home.

The plan is to get 88 of these bad boys, but they're still reviewing if that's the way to go. I wonder if the ongoing trade tensions with the US are making them rethink things. There's also talk of maybe mixing in some Saab Gripens.

I'm curious, what do you guys think about Canada's plan? Is a mixed fleet a good idea, or should they just stick with the F-35s? Also, do you think these political issues with the US will push Canada to diversify its military suppliers more? Let's chat!
Mixing in some Saab Gripens could actually be a smart move for Canada. Having a diverse fleet might give them more flexibility and prevent over-reliance on one supplier, especially if tensions with the US escalate. Plus, Gripens are known for being cost-effective and reliable. But then again, the F-35s have that stealth tech that's hard to beat. It's a tough call. I wonder how much influence politics will have on their final decision. Anyone know if other countries are doing mixed fleets?
