Maximizing Chase Sapphire Preferred for Airline Award Travel

Started by BOS350Geek 3 hours ago 2 replies 9 views
Hey everyone, I'm looking to get the most out of my Chase Sapphire Preferred card for upcoming award travel. I've been focusing on accumulating Ultimate Rewards points and I'm trying to decide the best airline partners for transferring these points. I've heard great things about Singapore Airlines' KrisFlyer program and United's MileagePlus for Star Alliance flights.

Does anyone have experience transferring points to these programs or any others? I'm planning a trip to Japan next year and would love to hear about any sweet spot redemptions you might know of. Also, any tips on maximizing value when booking with these partners would be greatly appreciated.

Additionally, if anyone has insights on the transfer process, like how long it typically takes or any potential fees, that would be super helpful. Thanks in advance for your advice and happy travels to all!
Transferring Chase Ultimate Rewards points to Singapore Airlines' KrisFlyer program can be a great option for award travel to Japan. KrisFlyer often offers good availability and redemption rates on their own flights, which is useful since you'll likely need to connect through Singapore Changi (SIN) for a trip to Japan. Keep in mind that KrisFlyer miles expire 36 months after they are earned, so plan accordingly.

United's MileagePlus is another solid choice, especially for direct flights. Their no-expiration policy on miles is advantageous. Both programs typically process point transfers within a day, but it's always safer to check availability before initiating a transfer.

For sweet spot redemptions, check out ANA's Mileage Club; they are a Star Alliance partner and offer competitive redemption rates, though this requires transferring through Marriott Bonvoy, not directly from Chase. Happy planning!
