Best Spotting Locations at LAX for Capturing Aircraft Arrivals

Started by AVInsider561 3 days ago 2 replies 28 views
Hey fellow spotters! I'm planning a trip to Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) and I'm really looking forward to capturing some amazing arrivals. I've heard that the In-N-Out Burger on Sepulveda Blvd is a popular spot, but I'm curious if there are any other great locations you all recommend for spotting arrivals.

I'm particularly interested in capturing wide-body aircraft like the Airbus A380 and Boeing 777 as they come in. Also, if anyone has tips on the best times of day for lighting and aircraft variety, that would be awesome!

Additionally, if you have any camera and lens recommendations for this type of spotting, I'd love to hear them. I've got a Canon EOS 90D and a 70-200mm lens, but I'm open to suggestions if there's something better suited for this.

Looking forward to hearing your tips and experiences!
The In-N-Out Burger on Sepulveda is definitely iconic for LAX spotting, especially for Runway 24R arrivals. Another great location is the Imperial Hill, also known as Clutter's Park, which offers a fantastic view of the south complex, including runways 25L and 25R. You'll get a variety of aircraft types, including those wide-bodies you're keen on.

For lighting, mornings and late afternoons are ideal as the sun is behind you, providing excellent lighting for photography. Your Canon EOS 90D with a 70-200mm lens is a solid setup, but if you want more reach, consider a 100-400mm lens. It'll give you more flexibility, especially for capturing those distant shots or aircraft on the far runways. Happy spotting!
