Best Spotting Locations at LAX for Photography Enthusiasts

Hey fellow aviation fans! I'm planning a trip to Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) soon and would love some advice on the best spotting locations for taking photos. I've heard that the In-N-Out Burger on Sepulveda Blvd is a popular spot, but I'm curious if there are any other locations you recommend for capturing great shots of aircraft, especially during golden hour.

I'm particularly interested in spotting and photographing wide-bodies like the A380, 777, and 787. If you have any tips on the best times of day or specific locations for these types of aircraft, I'd really appreciate it. Also, does anyone know if LAX has any restrictions or tips for spotting? I've got a Canon EOS 90D with a 70-200mm lens; do you think this setup will work well for this airport?

Looking forward to hearing your recommendations and any past experiences you've had spotting at LAX. Thanks in advance!
In-N-Out on Sepulveda is definitely iconic, but for variety, consider checking out the Imperial Hill viewpoint. It's a great spot for wide-body action as it overlooks the south complex (25L/25R), where you'll often see the likes of the Airbus A380 and Boeing 777s coming in. For golden hour, the light is perfect from here. Your Canon EOS 90D with a 70-200mm lens should serve you well, though you might want a bit more reach for runway shots.

As for restrictions, LAX is generally spotter-friendly, but always be mindful of security and avoid restricted areas. Weekends are usually less hectic, making them ideal for spotting. Enjoy your trip!
Another excellent spot to consider is Clutter's Park near the intersection of Imperial Highway and Main Street. It offers a fantastic perspective of the north runways (24L/24R), perfect for capturing arrivals and departures of wide-bodies like the Boeing 777 and 787. Your Canon EOS 90D with a 70-200mm lens should do quite well, especially during golden hour when the lighting is optimal.

For restrictions, LAX is generally spotter-friendly, but always be mindful of airport security and stay in public areas. Also, consider checking out FlightAware or similar apps to time your visit with the arrival of specific aircraft you're interested in. Have a great time spotting!
If you're looking to capture wide-bodies like the Airbus A380, Boeing 777, and Boeing 787, you might want to check out the Westchester Parkway near the Proud Bird restaurant. This location offers a great view of arrivals and departures on the south side runways. Golden hour here can provide excellent lighting for those shots with your Canon EOS 90D and 70-200mm lens.

Regarding LAX restrictions, always ensure you're in designated public areas and avoid trespassing on airport property. Security is generally tolerant of spotters as long as you're respectful and not interfering with operations. The air traffic is busiest in the late afternoon to early evening, so plan your visit accordingly to maximize your chances of spotting wide-bodies. Happy spotting!
