Maximizing Amex Membership Rewards for ANA Business Class

Started by PhotoDeparture53 2 months ago 2 replies 88 views
Hey everyone, I'm planning a trip from LAX to Tokyo and I'm looking to maximize my Amex Membership Rewards points for ANA's Business Class. I've heard great things about their service and want to experience it myself.

I've got about 150,000 Amex points saved up, and I'm trying to transfer them to ANA's Mileage Club. However, I'm unsure about the best way to go about this. Should I transfer directly to ANA or use a partner like Air Canada Aeroplan or Virgin Atlantic Flying Club for a better redemption rate? Also, does anyone know about ANA's fuel surcharges and how they might affect the overall cost?

Additionally, if any of you have flown ANA Business Class recently, I'd love to hear your thoughts on the experience, especially on the 777 or their new A380 "Flying Honu."

Looking forward to hearing your tips and experiences. Thanks in advance for the help!
When it comes to maximizing your Amex Membership Rewards for ANA Business Class, transferring to Virgin Atlantic Flying Club often offers the most value, especially for round-trip redemptions. Virgin Atlantic requires fewer miles than direct transfers to ANA Mileage Club for the same itinerary. However, availability might be more limited, so it's worth checking both options.

Regarding fuel surcharges, ANA tends to have moderate fees, but they can add up. Using Aeroplan might help mitigate these costs, as they sometimes have lower surcharges on partner redemptions.

As for the experience, ANA's Business Class is top-notch. On the Boeing 777, the "The Room" seats are spacious and private. The A380's "Flying Honu" offers a unique experience with its themed design. If you're flexible with your travel dates, you could try both aircraft types. Have a great trip!
