Hey fellow aviation photographers! I'm planning a spotting trip to JFK (IATA: JFK) soon and I'm curious about the best lenses to capture those iconic arrivals and departures. I've been using a Canon EOS R5 with a 70-200mm f/2.8 lens, but I'm considering adding a longer lens to my kit for this trip. I'm torn between the Canon RF 100-500mm f/4.5-7.1L IS USM and the Sigma 150-600mm f/5-6.3 DG OS HSM for Canon.
Has anyone used either of these lenses at JFK, or have other suggestions? I'm particularly interested in how they perform in various lighting conditions, like during golden hour or on overcast days. Also, any tips on the best spotting locations around JFK for these lenses would be greatly appreciated. I've heard Bayswater Park and the T5 parking lot are popular spots. Looking forward to your insights and experiences!
