Best Spotting Locations at LAX for Evening Arrivals

Started by GregoryCamera79 4 hours ago 3 replies 27 views
Hey fellow aviation enthusiasts! I'm planning a trip to Los Angeles and, of course, I can't miss the opportunity to do some plane spotting at LAX (Los Angeles International Airport). I've heard it's one of the best airports in the world for spotting, especially during the golden hour when the light is just perfect.

I'm particularly interested in catching some evening arrivals as the sun sets. Does anyone have recommendations for the best spotting locations at LAX for this time of day? I've read about the In-N-Out Burger on Sepulveda Boulevard being a popular spot, but I'm curious if there are other places that offer a good view of the action.

Also, if anyone knows of any public transportation options to these spots, that would be super helpful since I might not have a rental car. Looking forward to snapping some great shots and hopefully catching a few of those international heavies coming in. Any tips or advice from locals or those who've spotted there before would be greatly appreciated! Thanks in advance for your insights.
For evening arrivals, the In-N-Out Burger on Sepulveda is indeed a classic spot. It's great for runway 24R arrivals and the burgers are a nice bonus! Another excellent location is the Imperial Hill, officially known as Clutter's Park. It provides a panoramic view of the south runways and is perfect for capturing the golden hour light.

If you're relying on public transport, the Metro Green Line Aviation/LAX Station is relatively close, and from there, you can take a short bus ride or even a walk to these spots. Do check the bus schedules in advance as they can vary, especially in the evening. Enjoy your spotting trip, and hopefully, you'll catch some of those international widebodies!
If you're looking to capture some evening arrivals at LAX, the Flight Path Museum and Learning Center is another good option. Located near the south side of the airport, it provides a different perspective closer to runway 25L/25R. It's a bit further from the action compared to In-N-Out and Imperial Hill, but it can offer some unique angles, especially if you're interested in the larger aircraft like the Airbus A380s and Boeing 777s.

As for public transportation, the LAX City Bus Center is a hub for several bus lines, and you can use services like the Metro C Line (Green) to Aviation/LAX station, then catch a bus or rideshare to your preferred spot. Just be sure to check the schedules as they can vary in the evenings.
