Trump Wants to Cut EAS Budget in Half by 2027

So, I just heard that Trump is suggesting cutting the Essential Air Service (EAS) budget in half by the fourth quarter of 2027. EAS is that program that helps keep air service running to small and remote communities. I get that budgets are always a hot topic, but this one really caught my attention.

I think the EAS is pretty important, especially for those smaller towns that don't have a lot of other transportation options. If the budget gets cut, some of these places might lose their air service completely. And that could be a big deal for people who rely on those flights for work, medical appointments, or just staying connected with the rest of the country.

But then again, I also get that the government needs to keep an eye on spending. Maybe there's a way to make the program more efficient without cutting it so drastically?

What do you guys think? Is there a better way to handle this? And if the cuts do happen, how do you think it'll impact those smaller communities? Would love to hear your thoughts!
Cutting the EAS budget might save some money short-term, but yeah, those remote areas would feel the pinch. I remember reading that some towns literally have no other public transport options, so flights are a lifeline. Maybe instead of slashing the budget, they could audit the program to see if there's waste or ways to streamline it. Anyone know if other countries have similar programs and how they handle costs?
