What's going on with Caribbean Airlines losing big bucks?

So I just read that since Caribbean Airlines took over Air Jamaica back in 2011, they've lost a whopping $250 million USD! That's a lot of money. Kinda makes you wonder how things got so rough. I mean, the Jamaican government's stake in the airline's gone down from 16% to just about 11.8%, and they haven't put any more money into it either.

The numbers don't look great with losses still piling up through 2025, according to the Trinidad & Tobago Guardian. I guess managing two national carriers isn't as easy as it sounds.

Anyone have thoughts on why they couldn't turn it around? Is it just too much competition in the region, or are there other factors at play? And what does this mean for the future of Caribbean Airlines? I hope they can figure things out. Would love to hear what you all think!
