Is Marriott Bonvoy Elite Status Worth Chasing in 2024?

Been a Marriott Bonvoy member for a while now, but I'm really questioning if it's worth going for elite status next year. I've noticed some changes, and I'm not sure if I'm getting the same value as before. Like, the breakfast benefit seems to be hit-or-miss, and I've had a few stays where I didn't get upgraded even though it wasn't busy.

I mostly travel within the US and occasionally hop over to Europe. I'm considering if I should shift my loyalty to Hyatt or even IHG. Has anyone else felt this way or made a switch recently? Also, any tips on maximizing Bonvoy benefits if I decide to stick around would be great. Appreciate any advice or personal experiences!
Totally get where you're coming from. I've been feeling the same about Bonvoy lately. The breakfast benefit inconsistency bugs me too. Switched to Hyatt a year ago, and the Globalist perks have been more reliable, especially the upgrades. Plus, their customer service has been top-notch. If you travel a lot in the US, Hyatt's footprint might be a bit smaller, but quality over quantity, right? Maybe try a couple of stays with Hyatt or IHG and see if it feels like a better fit for you.
I've been on the fence too. I used to love Marriott, but lately, it feels like the perks aren't as reliable. I had a couple of stays where the room upgrade was non-existent, even though the hotel seemed empty. Hyatt's been tempting me, especially with their consistent service and perks like guaranteed late checkout. If you mostly travel in the US, Hyatt's footprint might work well for you. Have you looked into their credit card bonuses to boost status quickly?
I've been in the same boat. Marriott used to feel like a no-brainer, but lately, I've had more misses than hits with the perks. I switched to Hyatt for a bit, and their Globalist status actually delivered on upgrades and breakfast. But, it's tough if you're mostly in the US since Hyatt's not everywhere. If you stick with Bonvoy, maybe focus on properties where you've had better luck. Have you tried talking to management about the benefits when they fall short? Sometimes that helps.
I've felt the same about Marriott lately. The breakfast perk is hit-or-miss, and upgrades are rare. I've actually started splitting my stays between Marriott and Hyatt to see which one feels better overall. Hyatt's Globalist status has been more consistent for me, especially with upgrades and late check-outs. If you stick with Bonvoy, maybe focus on using the free night awards strategically, like during peak times. Have you looked into their co-branded credit cards for extra perks?
I've been thinking the same thing. Marriott used to be my go-to, but the inconsistency with perks is frustrating. I've tried Hyatt a couple of times recently, and I have to say, their customer service felt more personal. The Globalist perks, especially with breakfast and room upgrades, were more consistent. If you're still on the fence, maybe try splitting your stays between Marriott and another chain for a bit to see which one gives you better value. Have you looked into IHG's program at all? Curious how it compares.
I've been wondering the same thing. Marriott's been a bit of a letdown lately with perks not always coming through. I tried Hyatt and gotta say, their Globalist benefits are pretty solid, especially if you travel to any of their bigger properties. If you're sticking with Bonvoy for now, maybe focus on the properties known for better service? Some hotels are just more reliable with upgrades and perks. Curious to know if anyone's found a sweet spot with IHG too.
Honestly, I've been feeling the same way about Marriott. I used to get upgrades more often, but now it seems like a gamble. If you're thinking about trying Hyatt, their Globalist perks are pretty consistent, especially with guaranteed late checkout. IHG's new program is interesting too, but I'm not sure how it stacks up yet. If you stick with Bonvoy, maybe focus on using your points for aspirational stays? That's where I find the best value. Anyone else have thoughts on IHG's changes?
Totally get where you're coming from. I've been a Marriott loyalist for years, but the perks don't feel as valuable lately. Tried Hyatt recently, and their Globalist perks were impressive, especially the guaranteed late checkout. IHG's got some decent promo offers too, but their elite benefits aren't as strong in my opinion. Maybe try splitting your stays and see which works better for you. Have you considered any of the credit card benefits to boost your status?
I've been in the same boat with Marriott. The inconsistency's been frustrating. Tried Hyatt, and they seem to be more reliable with perks. Plus, their customer service is usually spot on. If you're traveling mostly in the US, the Hyatt footprint might be a bit smaller, though. Have you checked out IHG's new loyalty program changes? They seem to be stepping up their game too. Might be worth looking into if you're considering a switch.
I've had similar thoughts about Marriott lately. Used to be all about those Bonvoy perks, but it's been hit or miss. Switched a few stays to Hyatt this year and noticed a big difference, especially with customer service and consistent perks. Have you looked into Hyatt's status match challenge? Could be worth trying if you're thinking of switching. Also, IHG's got some decent promos now and then. Curious if anyone's found a way to really make Bonvoy work post-pandemic?
