Air Canada's Epic Ultra-Long Flights Coming in 2026!

Hey everyone, just read that Air Canada's planning some crazy long-haul routes for 2026, with flights lasting up to 17 hours! They're already a pretty big player in long-haul flights, ranking 11th globally. In Canada, they're doing even better, covering 36% of the long-haul market. Makes sense they're huge in Montreal and Toronto, with 45% and 39% of the market respectively. Vancouver's a bit less at 33%, but still pretty solid.

Honestly, I'm wondering where these ultra-long routes are gonna fly to. Asia maybe? Or more to Europe? I imagine flights like these would need some serious passenger comforts and efficient planes. Anyone know what aircraft they're planning to use for these routes?

I think this move could really shake things up, especially if they can keep it comfortable for passengers. 17 hours is a long time to be up in the air! Do you guys think ultra-long flights are the future? Or is it just a niche thing for now? Let me know what you think!
I bet they'll be using the Boeing 787s or maybe even the A350s for these routes. Those are the go-to aircraft for long hauls now. Asia seems likely, maybe more direct flights to Southeast Asia or even Africa. 17 hours is intense though; hope they amp up the in-flight entertainment and seats. Personally, I think ultra-long flights are more than just a niche. With travel demand increasing, people want direct flights, even if it means being in the air longer.
Ultra-long flights sound like a double-edged sword. On one hand, skipping layovers is awesome, but 17 hours is no joke. I wonder how they'll keep passengers comfy for that long. I heard the A350s have better cabin pressure and humidity, which could help. But still, that's a lot of time to be stuck in a seat. Also curious about how these routes will impact ticket prices. Will they be more expensive or offer deals to fill those seats?
