F-16 vs Dassault Rafale: Oldies But Goodies in Modern Air Combat

So I was reading about how the Dassault Rafale and F-16 Fighting Falcon are still big players in air combat even as we move towards 2026. It's kinda crazy how these jets, which aren't exactly new, are still in the game with all the data-centric and stealthy tech out there.

The F-16's been around since the 70s and I think it's really impressive how it's still so adaptable. It's like the Swiss Army knife of fighter jets. Then there's the Dassault Rafale, which is a bit newer and super versatile too. Both have found ways to stay relevant despite not being fifth-gen like the F-35 or F-22.

I guess it goes to show that sometimes you don't need the latest tech to be effective. Anyone here have thoughts on how these older jets keep up with all the new tech? And do you think they'll still be around in another decade or so? It's pretty cool that both aircraft have managed to stay on the front lines for so long. Would love to hear what you guys think!
Totally agree, it's wild how these jets are still going strong. The F-16's modular design is a big reason it's stayed relevant. Countries can upgrade its systems without starting from scratch. The Rafale's multirole capability means it can handle a bunch of different missions, which keeps it versatile. As for the future, I think as long as they're cost-effective and adaptable, they'll stick around. Plus, not every mission needs stealth, right? Who knows, maybe we'll see an F-16 in 2040!
