C-130 Hercules Gets Grounded in Ireland - Hatchet Style?!

So, get this - a US Air Force C-130 Hercules got taken out of service at Shannon Airport by some guy with a hatchet. Yeah, you read that right. Apparently, this happened back on April 11. Shannon's got a bit of history with this kinda thing. Like, 23 years ago, a US Navy C-40 got hit up in the same way. Makes you wonder about security, right?

Ireland's known for being neutral, so it's always been a bit of a hotspot for this kind of protest action, I guess. But seriously, a hatchet? That's wild. I know airports have security, but something's gotta change if folks can just walk up and damage military aircraft like that.

I'm curious how the USAF handles repairs and stuff like this abroad, especially in places not exactly set up for military repairs. Do they fly in their own crews, or is there some local help? And what does Shannon do about these incidents? Seems like it could get expensive and politically sticky.

Kinda curious to hear what you all think about this. Is it just a one-off crazy thing, or does it say something more about security or politics at places like Shannon?
A hatchet, seriously? That's nuts. You'd think a military aircraft would have better protection, even at a civilian airport. Shannon's history with these protests makes you wonder if security measures are really up to scratch. As for repairs, I reckon the USAF probably flies in their own crew. They'd need folks familiar with the aircraft and the right parts. But it must be a logistical headache. Also, what does Ireland do about these protestors? Seems like a delicate balancing act between security and respecting their neutrality.
