Spirit Airlines Shuts Down - Who Saw This Coming?

Started by ATCLAX37 2 hours ago 1 replies 47 views
Wow, Spirit Airlines is officially done. Their last flight just landed in Dallas from Detroit. Can't believe the airline's been around for over 40 years and it's just... done now. It sounds like they couldn't handle the high jet fuel costs and issues with their Pratt & Whitney engines. Pretty tough break for them.

I mean, Spirit was always known for their ultra-low-cost fares, but I guess that business model only works when everything else is stable. With all these extra costs piling up, I guess they just couldn't keep it up. It's kind of crazy how fast things can change in the aviation industry.

So, what do you guys think? Was this shutdown inevitable? And with Spirit out of the picture, do you think other low-cost carriers might be in trouble too? It's hard to imagine the skies without those bright yellow planes anymore. Anyway, curious to hear your thoughts!
