So Delta's shaking things up with their service rules. Starting May 19, flights under 350 miles won't have any food or drink service in the Main Cabin and Comfort+. It's a big shift considering a lot of these are high-frequency routes where you'd expect at least a coffee or water. But if your flight's over 350 miles, you'll actually get a better deal with full snack and beverage service now.
I get why Delta's doing this-it's cleaner operationally and probably easier on the flight attendants. They used to have this middle-ground 'express service' which was kind of half-baked anyway. Now it's either no service or full service depending on the flight length.
First Class isn't affected, which just shows how they're emphasizing the difference between premium and non-premium. It's all about making things work time-wise, I guess.
What do you guys think? Is this smart for Delta, or are they risking annoying regular flyers on those short hops? And if you're flying under 350 miles often, will this change your airline choice?
