Spotting at Dallas Fort Worth (DFW) - Best Daytime Settings?

Started by Janet380 4 hours ago 2 replies 19 views
Hey guys! So I'm planning a trip to Dallas Fort Worth and I'm pumped to do some plane spotting there. I hear it's a pretty awesome place to catch a diverse mix of aircraft. I've got a Canon 90D and I'm wondering about the best camera settings for shooting during the day. I want to make sure I capture those crisp details, even in bright sunlight.

Do you all have any tips on shutter speed and ISO settings that work best? Also, any specific spots around DFW where the lighting's perfect for daytime shots? Appreciate any advice you can throw my way. Thanks!
For daytime shots at DFW, I'd start with a shutter speed around 1/1000 to 1/2000 to freeze the motion, especially for takeoffs and landings. Keep your ISO as low as possible, like 100 or 200, to get those crisp details. Aperture-wise, f/8 usually works well for good depth of field. As for spots, try Founders' Plaza. Great views and the lighting is often spot-on in the morning or late afternoon. Just keep an eye on the weather, Texas sun can be brutal!
