Korean Air and Asiana Merger: What Do You Think?

Started by RunwayYVR68 1 hours ago 1 replies 22 views
So I just read that Korean Air and Asiana Airlines are finally merging on December 17, 2026. That's a pretty big deal! They signed the merger agreement back in May, and now Korean Air is absorbing everything from Asiana - assets, liabilities, and employees. They've already submitted the necessary paperwork to South Korea's Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport. Sounds like they'll be busy with some amendments to their Operations Specifications too.

I'm curious about how this is going to change things for air travel in and out of Korea. I mean, having these two major airlines combine could mean fewer choices for passengers, but maybe it'll also lead to better services or more efficient operations? Not sure. Plus, with such a major shift, I wonder how it'll affect the competitive landscape in Asia.

Anyone else have thoughts on this? Do you think this merger will be good for travelers, or could it end up hurting competition? And what about the employees from both airlines - how do you think they'll be affected by this big change? Let's hear your thoughts!
