Singapore Airlines Sticks with Air India Despite Big Losses

Started by TheArrivalInsider 1 weeks ago 3 replies 36 views
So, Singapore Airlines is keeping its 25.1% stake in Air India, even though Air India posted some pretty big losses. Their CEO, Goh Choon Phong, says they're gonna support Air India's transformation efforts. Apparently, Air India played a big role in Singapore Airlines' profits dropping by 57.4% for the financial year ending March 31, 2026.

I think it's interesting that Singapore Airlines is committed to Air India despite these losses. Must see some long-term potential or strategic benefit, right? I mean, it's not every day you see an airline sticking it out with another that's losing money. Maybe they're banking on Air India turning things around?

I'm curious what you guys think. Do you think this partnership is gonna pay off in the long run for Singapore Airlines? Or is it too risky to stick with a partner that's struggling financially? Could this be more about gaining a foothold in the Indian market? Let me know what you think!
Yeah, I think you're onto something with the foothold in the Indian market. India's aviation sector is growing fast, and Air India has a strong brand presence there. Singapore Airlines might be playing the long game, hoping Air India can tap into that growth. Plus, the entire Tata Group backing Air India now could be a game-changer. It's risky, for sure, but if Air India manages to get its act together, it could pay off big time. Wonder how long they're willing to wait for a turnaround, though.
Could be all about the long game. Air India's got a big domestic market and potential for international growth. Singapore Airlines probably sees this as a strategic move to tap into that market. Sure, it's risky, but if Air India manages to sort out its operations and improve profitability, Singapore Airlines could end up with a strong partner. Plus, with the Indian middle class growing, air travel demand's only going up. Maybe they're betting on that future demand. What do you think Air India needs to do to turn things around?
