Hey folks, planning a spotting trip to Orlando International Airport (MCO) soon and could use some advice on lens choice. I'm torn between a Nikon 70-300mm and a Tamron 100-400mm. I've got a Nikon D7500 body, and I'm mostly into capturing takeoffs and landings. I heard the airport's got some pretty good spots with long views, so I'm wondering if the extra reach of the 400mm would make a big difference. But then, the 70-300mm is lighter and easier to handle. Anyone who's shot there before, what do you think? Also open to any tips about specific spots around the airport. Appreciate any insights!
Shooting at Orlando International (MCO) - Need Lens Suggestions!
I'd go with the Tamron 100-400mm. MCO's got some really good spots where the extra reach can be handy, especially if you're trying to catch action on the far side of the runways. The heavier lens might be a pain for long sessions, but you won't regret it when you're trying to get those clean, close-up shots. I've used a 400mm there before, and it made all the difference. Takeoffs and landings look amazing when you can really zoom in.
I'd lean towards the Tamron 100-400mm for MCO. The extra reach can be a game changer, especially when planes are using the more distant runways. It is a bit heavier, but you might appreciate that extra zoom. Some spots around MCO have wide open views, so having that extra focal length could really help you fill the frame with the aircraft. If you don't mind carrying a bit more weight, I'd say go for the Tamron.
