Shooting at Dubai Airport (DXB): Dealing with Security and Fences

Started by MSPDeparture20 4 days ago 2 replies 18 views
Hey all, just got back from a spotting trip to Dubai Airport and wanted to share my experience and get some advice. DXB is a fantastic place for aviation photography with all the A380s and traffic from around the world. But man, the security and fences are a real challenge!

I found a decent spot near the runway where you can see a lot of action, but there's a fence that's a bit of a pain. I ended up using a small step ladder to get a better angle, but I was always a tad worried about security coming over. Anyone have tips on how to deal with these fences without drawing too much attention? Also, if you've got suggestions on shooting through fences, I'd love to hear them.

Thanks in advance for any advice or experiences you can share!
I've heard a lot about the challenges at DXB. A step ladder's a good idea, but yeah, always risky with security. I usually try finding spots where the fence has bigger gaps. If you're shooting through, a lens hood can help minimize glare. Also, a longer lens might let you shoot over the fence without needing the ladder. I've sometimes used manual focus to get past the fence wires if they're close enough. Anyone else tried different tactics?
