Just Got a Box of Airline Branded Coasters - Collectible?

Started by KennethRunway45 4 days ago 3 replies 16 views
I recently inherited a box of airline-branded coasters from my uncle, who used to travel a lot for work in the '80s and '90s. I'm talking about a pretty eclectic mix here - Pan Am, TWA, Lufthansa, and even some airlines I haven't heard of. They're all still in pretty good condition, though some are definitely showing their age.

I'm pretty new to collecting this kind of stuff, so I'm curious if anyone else collects coasters or has any advice on how to store or display them. Are they considered valuable or more of a novelty item? Not sure if I should keep them, trade them, or maybe even try to sell them. Would love to hear your thoughts or any similar experiences!
That's a pretty cool find! Airline coasters can be a fun collectible, especially if you have ones from defunct airlines like Pan Am and TWA. Their value depends on rarity and condition. You might find some collectors who'd pay a decent price, but they're generally more of a nostalgia item than a big money-maker. For storage, maybe get a photo album with sleeves to keep them flat and protected. If you decide to display them, a shadow box could work nicely. Do you have any coasters from airlines that don't exist anymore?
Airline coasters are a neat piece of aviation history, especially with those classic airlines like Pan Am and TWA. They're mostly novelty items, but can be valuable to the right collector. If you want to keep them, maybe try a shadow box for display. Keeps them safe and looks cool. If you're thinking of selling, check eBay to see what similar items go for. Some rare ones can surprise you with their prices. Do you have any from airlines that don't exist anymore? Those might be worth more.
