American Airlines Wants to Fly Out of Naples-Thoughts?

Started by JoshuaAMS22 3 days ago 1 replies 33 views
So, I just heard that American Airlines is thinking about starting regular flights from Naples Airport in Florida. They're talking about 2-3 flights a day to Charlotte with those 65-seat CRJ-700 planes. Right now, Naples is mainly a general aviation spot with just JSX doing seasonal flights to New York. People at a public meeting had mixed feelings about it. Some folks think having American there would be super convenient, especially since many people have to drive to Fort Myers for flights. Others are worried about noise and the airport getting too busy.

Honestly, I get both sides. It'd be nice to have more flight options directly from Naples, but I also wouldn't want the noise to get out of hand. I remember American Eagle used to fly out of there until 2001, and Delta pulled out in 2007. So it's interesting that they're considering coming back.

What do you guys think? Do you see this as a good move for the area, or could it lead to more issues? Also, do you think other airlines would jump on board if American starts flights there?
