Hey everyone, did you hear about the Southwest 737-700 where the windshield just shattered on a flight from Albuquerque to Baltimore? It happened on May 11th, and they had to make an emergency landing in Tulsa. They were cruising along, about an hour into the flight, when cracks started forming and then the glass just gave way.
Luckily, they landed safely, but it's kinda wild thinking about how a windshield can just shatter like that with no apparent impact. I mean, windshields are supposed to withstand a lot, right? Makes me wonder what could've caused it. Manufacturing defect? Stress from the cabin pressure?
It's not the first time something like this has happened, but still, pretty scary for everyone on board. Imagine being in the cockpit when that starts happening.
Anyone else have thoughts on what might've gone wrong? Or know if the 737-700s have had similar issues before? Really curious if this is a one-off thing or if there's a pattern. Let me know what you think!
