747 Scrapping: Landing Gear Worth More Than the Airframe?

Hey everyone, just read something wild about the Boeing 747. You'd think the whole plane would be worth a ton, right? Well, turns out when these giants hit the boneyard, a single piece of the landing gear can be more valuable than the whole airframe! Kinda blew my mind.

Makes sense when you think about it though. There's still a bunch of 747 freighters flying around, so parts are in demand. And with the 747 out of production for over three years now, finding parts isn't getting any easier. But why is the landing gear so valuable? I guess it must be really tough to replace or refurbish.

It's kinda sad seeing these iconic planes getting scrapped, but it's cool that parts of them live on. I wonder what other parts are crazy valuable. Maybe engines or avionics? Anyone know more about how these things are priced or what else is in demand?

And for those who've seen one of these boneyards, is it as surreal as it sounds? Must be quite the sight seeing all these legends lined up, waiting to be taken apart. Would love to hear your thoughts!
Yeah, it's pretty wild how the landing gear's worth so much. From what I know, it's because the gear's super complex and built to handle tons of stress. Takes a lot of engineering and materials, which isn't cheap. Engines are definitely valuable too, especially if they're compatible with other aircraft. As for boneyards, they're a mix of sad and fascinating. Seeing all those planes lined up is like walking through history, but also a reminder of how fast things change in aviation.
